Sunday April 29, 1990

JJ and I went to the library to do work. We ran into Gleed. In the afternoon we played doubles tennis with Horowitz and J Diament. I had dinner at JJ's and then we went to see Pretty Woman at Bayview Village with Sergio.



[Note: I recall seeing a movie being filmed on Hollywood Bl. when Guy and I were there, and think it was either Pretty Woman or Internal Affairs because someone said they saw Richard Gere.]

Saturday April 28, 1990

I went over to Brad's house. Guy also went over and a few of us played some road hockey with 1 goalie. Jordi came over later and we did pizza scams again.

Friday April 27, 1990

I wrote a test in English A. I headed to the Thornlea Fashion Show with Katzin, Fingret, Rog and Poster ... and then we went to a field party in Quail Valley. Awesome night!

Thursday April 26, 1990

French vocabulary test. Accounting pop-quiz. Meatballs for lunch. Gabe and I went to Rockford and tossed a baseball around. Then we moved it to the ping-pong table. Had some awesome battles. Watched TV.

Wednesday April 25, 1990

We went on a long run ("mailbox run") in Phys-Ed class. Sergio and I went to Sporting Life after school. Then I went to my mom's office at Hairistocracy. We then grabbed Gabe, some Chinese food and all headed home together.

[Note: my mom had started working at a hair salon called Hairistocracy on Yonge north of Eglinton. She rented a room in the salon and did her esthetician stuff. The owners of the salon were these 2 great guys that I became like family - Gino is Italian and was married with a couple kids. Ray on the other hand was a single Maltese stud that shagged a different hot chick every night of the week. We lost touch with those guys, but I still think about them every once in a while. Gino had the best jokes and Ray had the best conquest stories.]

Tuesday April 24, 1990

We wrote a test in English B. Did research on my 60's essay. I got 13/18 (72%) on my Math test. My ecosystem for Science was due.

Monday April 23, 1990

I got 86% on the History test. We played football in Phys-Ed class - I had a solid 23 yard rush. Spaghetti for lunch. Did homework.

Sunday April 22, 1990

Dad and I drove up to London to pick Gabe up from school. We stopped at Dairy Queen for Blizzards before heading back to Toronto. I did a bunch of homework that night.

Saturday April 21, 1990

I went over to Brad's house; just hung out there with a bunch of people - Jordi, Sesel, C Shiner and a friend of his. We did a classic pizza scam.

{Note - the classic pizza scam had a few variations:

1. Order a pizza to our house and then to a house very close by right after. Then someone would wait at the side of the house and when the pizza guy went to the door with our pizza the guy at the side of the house would go into his car and grab the other one.

2. Same as above but order the pizza to the house nearby first. Then steal the pizza intended for our house from the car. Then we would also call and say that the pizza we ordered was late (so would have a free pizza come to the house later).

3. The other variation was to order to a friends house nearby and that person would say they didn't order a pizza but then get all mad and stall the driver so he would be late to show up with our pizza (30 minutes or free).

I'm not proud of these ... but 15 year old boys can be a little outside the law.}

Friday April 20, 1990

Guybag's birthday. I had two big tests: Science and Math. Tuna for lunch. Stayed home and watched TV.

Thursday April 19, 1990

Jordi's 16th birthday. He got his 365 driver's license learner's permit. Mr. Roe quit. We wrote another test in History. I got into a fight with Rulloff in the change room after Phys-Ed class. Studied. Parent's friend Arnold came to visit us from New York.   

[Note - the 365 is now called a G1. The fight was kind of unique in that nobody else saw it. We were chirping away at each other on the soccer field, and then both got kicked out and told to go change. However, when we went back to the change room neither of us would back down so we kept jabbering until we ended up scrapping in there.]

Wednesday April 18, 1990

I picked my classes for next year (we get a few electives). I watched a Donald Trump interview on Larry King. I stayed up late watching Edmonton destroy LA (and Gretzky) 7-0 in Game 1 of the series.

[Note - Trump went suddenly on the skids in 1990, finding himself over $900 million in debt and facing bankruptcy.]

Tuesday April 17, 1990

I had to have my sources ready for the Sixtees essay in English B. We read Sophocles' Oedipus The King in English A. Hamburgers for lunch. I did homework while watching Boston 4 Hartford 2.

Monday April 16, 1990

Easter Monday - no school! We played another game of road hockey with the Bermans, etc. I watched TV and did homework.

Sunday April 15, 1990

Easter Sunday. I went over to Brad's house and we played road hockey with his brother and a few friends. Jordi came over later. I ended up having dinner and sleeping over there.

Saturday April 14, 1990

Rosa and Garik left to return to New York. Jordi, Brad and I went to Town & Country, Soles and Sluggers. I watched a bunch of playoff hockey: Oilers beat Jets 4-3; then I stayed up until 3am watching LA eliminate Calgary 4-3 in double overtime. Amazing game!!!

Friday April 13, 1990

Good Friday. Really good since there is no school! A few of us played road hockey. Brad, Sesel, Jordi, Guy and I went to The Promenade to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Thursday April 12, 1990

We played squash in Phys-Ed. Spaghetti for lunch. No school tomorrow so I went to Brad's place for dinner. Sesel came over and we watched the Leafs get eliminated from the playoffs. I crashed at Bradley's.

Wednesday April 11, 1990

Madame Pella got fed up with all the French jokes and copious use of the word "frog". We had a pretty stern (and well deserved) lecture on racism. I went with Parents and Rosa & Garik to Bayview Village to see I Love You To Death. Pretty damn hilarious!

Tuesday April 10, 1990

Passover. We performed our play in English A. I then wrote a test in English B. I left school early and met up with my family and Rosa & Garik in Hazelton Lanes.

Monday April 9, 1990

We played flag football in Phys-Ed class. Veal parm for lunch (my favourite!). Gabe came home for Passover. Granny came over and we had a big dinner at our house.

Sunday April 8, 1990

I went to Nino D'Aversa with parents for lunch. My favourite coffee and veal sandwiches! My mom's cousin Rosa and her husband Garik arrived in town from New York. I watched St. Louis take a 3-0 series lead by defeating Toronto 6-5 in game 3. Sergio Momesso Leafs suck!   

Saturday April 7, 1990

Brad and I went to Town & Country. Later on we met up with Jordi and Guy at Kelsey's (at Bayview and Laureleaf) to watch the Habs 3 vs. Buffalo 0. Patrick Roy is incredible.

Friday April 6, 1990

I wrote a Math test. I went over to Sesel's house for shabbat dinner. We then hit a huge field party around Green Lane. I crashed at Brad's place.

Thursday April 5, 1990

I wrote an Accounting test. We played badminton in Phys-Ed class. Gabe called and we chatted for a while. I watched the Sabres beat Montreal 4-1.

Wednesday April 4, 1990

I got 7.5/10 on a Math quiz. NHL playoffs began. The Leafs lost 4-2 to St. Louis. Hull and Oates are amazing together!

Tuesday April 3, 1990

We worked on our MacBeth masks in English class. Grilled cheese for lunch. Read the Toronto Star NHL Playoff preview. I did homework and watched the NHL playoff preview on CBC.

Monday April 2, 1990

I wrote a History test. Franks and beans for lunch. We did the 'mailbox run' at school. Mom, dad and I went to the Promenade to see Nuns on the Run.
