Ryan Long and I went down to Maple Leaf Gardens and got ourselves into the New York Rangers practice. Ryan was a huge James Patrick fan and that is who got us in. We met all the Rangers and got our cards autographed. We then went over to Cliff's house and played some road hockey. Then we all watched the game.

I stayed home from school because I wasn't feeling well. I spent the day watching TV and then started reading Catcher In The Rye for English class.
Note: Cliche, yes ... but it remains one of my favourite books of all time. I remember feeling like a changed person after reading that book. It exposed me to things I was totally oblivious about. However, there was also lots that I didn't comprehend that I discovered not long ago when I reread the book.
Wednesday January 25, 1989
We had a pop quiz in health class. I went over to Min's house after school to work on our project. I watched the Bruins vs. Leafs game.
Note: Robert Cimetta played for the Bruins and I was a big fan because he was a former Crescent student. He later went on to play for the Leafs.

Note: many of the guys from Newtonbrook would actually become my friends years later when I started dating Melissa

Tuesday January 3, 1989
We had chicken nuggets for lunch. A bunch of us stayed after school and played cosom hockey in Highland Hall. Mr. Davies (teacher) played with us. I had a goal and 4 assists.
Note: Steven Davies was one of my favourite teachers at Crescent. Super cool guy (taught History, World Religions, etc.) that almost made the NHL as a goalie. I think he also taught at a goalie camp and knew a bunch of the guys in the NHL, including John Tanner (who never did anything but was on the Nordiques).
Monday January 2, 1989
Holiday (because New Year's Day fell on a Sunday). Finished reading Lord of the Flies. Watched TV. Took Pepper for a super long walk.

I slept in late and then spent the entire day watching TV and reading Lord of The Flies.
Note: Lord of the Flies was a school assignment, but remains one of my favourite books to this day.

Friday December 30, 1988
I went shopping with mom. Watched TV.
Tuesday December 27, 1988
I went to play shini at Double Rinks with Guy, Jordi, Buntman, and Sesel. Rented Overboard. Took Pepper to the vet.
[Note - this may have been the first time I met Buntman. He was a recent immigrant from South Africa and would go on to become a good friend for a little while. Who knew then that he would go on to become very religious Jew and move to Israel ... and in fact marry a relative of Guy's! Small world that works in amazing ways.]
Monday December 26, 1988
Boxing Day. Cliff and I went to National Gym, then went over to his house for dinner*. We watched the Leafs vs. Islanders.
* I wanted to be polite so kept quiet, but his mom served runny eggs. I hate runny eggs. Hurled in his bathroom.
