The students in Biology class left for Jamaica. We watched the famous Grand Central Station scene in The Untouchables in English A. In History class we discussed our OAC year and in Society we discussed the Prefects system. I went to Laser Genesis and Lime Rickey's with Melissa, Nara, Steve, Jen O, Mike, Daphne, J Lampert, Frannie, Perry, Joanne, Shelby M, Shelby W, and Nicki Sussman.

Valentine's Day and Granny's 75th birthday! I handed in my essay for Society class and another one for English A. Brian and I went to the Neil Young concert at Maple Leaf Gardens. It was Neil Young & Crazy Horse, with Sonic Youth and Social Distortion opening. We didn't see any of the opening acts because when I met Brian at Sheppard Station he realized that he forgot the tickets at home. We ended up going back up to Finch and taking the Steeles 53 back to his house, grabbing the tickets and then catching a cab to the subway. It was quite the adventure and in the end we showed up just before Neil went on stage. Although the concert was great musically, it was a bit disappointing in that Neil literally didn't say a word between songs. You would think coming back to Canada he would talk to the crowd - an anecdote, memory - something. Anything. But he never made a peep. The set included:

I slept in late and then spent the day helping pack up our house. Took Pepper for a long walk.

I went to the Promenade with Jordi and Al. We grabbed dinner at Pizza Hut before heading to Lime Rickey's to meet up with Guy, Mark, Brad and Brian. They met a few girls - Irina, Keren and Karen (Brian knew her already from Northland) - that came with us to Newtonbrook Bowlerama. Jordi, Al and I ended up giving Irina a ride home ... with Jordi getting her phone number.

[Note - this was one of those monumental evenings that had a ripple effect that lasted for years. Several relationships came out of this evening and a bunch of new networks were formed. Ultimately it was a coming together of several Thornlea folks with Mackenzie folks ... which soon linked us to Newtonbrook people.]

I went over to Al's house. We watched Coming to America for a change. Guy, Brad, Jordi, Brian, Al and I went to Kelsey's to watch the last day of the World Juniors Hockey Championship. Thanks to Sweden typing the Soviets late in the game, Canada went on to win the Gold medal. David Chyzowski was Canada's leading scorer, while Robert reichel was the leading scorer of the tournament.

We played 2 on 2 road hockey at Roger's house. Bri and I beat up on Brad and Roger - Kevin was the goalie. It was Brad's birthday. Al, Brian and I went to see Awakenings at Canada Square. Yikes.

Jordi and I went over to Al's place and spent the afternoon making tennis ball bombs.* I went to Toby's for dinner with Brad and Briski. We met some girls there and went bowling with them. We also stopped by Lime Rickey's (I ran into Danielle there).

* basically cut open a tennis ball, fill it with the ends of matches, leave a piece of flint inside and then seal with duct tape. Throw against a wall and boom!

I went to a New Year's Party @ Rob's house with Guy, Al, Jordi, Roger, George S, Josh K., Katzin, J Dyan, Rubinoff, Urman, J Gold, Pearl, Lorne S, Krista, Lainie, Danielle, Wine, Mira, Lisa S, Rebecca L, Terri, Amy and Elise (we fooled around a little).

We spent the entire day at the beach (last chance for a good tan). Paul, Alter and I had a massive playfight - but totally trashed the apartment. We went to Boca Raton for dinner that night.

Christmas Day! It rained most of the day so we just walked down the strip and had a shitty lunch. We stayed down there in the evening and hit a few bars. At one point Yuri and I took off on our own and checked out another bar close to where the rest of the guys were. When we headed back to reconnect with the other guys they were already outside and Gabe went nuts on me. His buddies had to break it up because Gabe was so pissed. I didn't tell him where I was going and he got freaked out by my 'disappearance'.

[Note - At the time I thought Gabe was an ass; but looking back I can appreciate the responsibility he had, and how concerned he got when I went missing. The beating my dad would have given him if I did go missing would be have been worse.]

Paul, Gabe, Erez and I went down to the beach. Later on Paul and I hung lounged poolside next to our hotel and I met Joanne. We all went Go-karting and to play arcade games.

Simon and Yuri met a group of girls in the condo they are staying at (Claire, Stephanie, etc..). A big group of us went to Hollywood Beach for the day - we played touch football and swam. In the evening we drove into Miami for dinner and went clubbing there.
